We are in the second day of a heat wave not so much by the temperature alone but the humidity with it. The morning was actually pretty nice with a slight breeze out of the south as I prepared to launch at Summit Lake just to the west of Creston, Iowa. The sun hadn’t come up yet and I had everything ready when an older gentleman pulled up with a small Pond Prowler and a trolling motor. He came over to me at the truck and asked what I was going to use to catch fish and what I wanted to catch. His name was Harley and he is in his 80’s. I let him know that my favorite lure to use was the Neko Rig. He had never heard of it so I gave him one to try. He told me that he just uses a cane pole with a short line attached rigged with a bobber and a worm. A very simple but yet effective setup as we all knew from growing up with fishing!
