"Sticks" Stats
Nebraska Kayak Anglers Live Tournament Statistics 2019-24
Here are some statistics compiled from “The Sticks-Nebraska Kayak Anglers” tournaments from the last five years. Of course, there have been numerous other tournaments and series held throughout the years since 2004 including the Kayakapalooza which was primarily a multi-species live event and then came along the Midwest Kayak Fishing Series, the “Tail of Two Cities” and other series like the “Catch All You Can” among others. The Central States Series and Heartland Series became more of a regional series so we are focusing on the results from below that will give anglers an idea of what to expect on Nebraska lakes in the future when planning their schedules. There are also a number of leagues across the state that offer anglers a chance to experience some competition as well.
The results below are very impressive and from this data one can tell that there is plenty of parity among the states premier tournament kayak bass anglers. Kevin Workman of Elkhorn is the only repeat Angler of the Year and also holds a runner-up finish as well. The number of 19 inch bass submitted is quite impressive and the biggest bass caught is a tie between Michael Noziska of Omaha and Chris Longshore of Hastings each with a 21.25 hawg. Red Willow Lake in the southwest part of the state has been the dominant big bass destination for these derbies. There were 42% of the 19 inch and bigger bass caught there with 35% of the 20 inch bass and bigger caught there as well. The record limit of five bass goes to Chris Longshore of 97.5 inches in an Omaha Roadrunner event just last year. All results were pulled from The Sticks official website and TourneyX.com. The new schedule for “The Sticks” is up on their Facebook page and there are some new lakes that haven’t been fished in previous years which should make for a very interesting year.
